Challenge:

The challenge put to roofing contractor Trinity Exteriors with this Fridley project was to use every means possible to prevent roof leaking in the future.

Solution:

A hail storm in July 2015 pummelled this Fridley, MN home, and the homeowners contacted Trinity Exteriors for a free roof inspection. They had been referred to us by one of their friends who used Trinity in the past and was very happy with the work.

On our free inspection, we easily diagnosed the damage caused by hail. Looking at some of the roofing elements, however, we knew there was a chance we would have to replace the decking for the roof. Local building codes call for no more than 5/8″ gap between planks, but most manufacturers specify space no greater than 1/4″. After tearing off the roof we saw some gapping, so we replaced the planks with new OSB to ensure we complied with best practices to retain the warranty on the new shingles.

After putting down two rows of Ice & Water Barrier, also per code, we installed new Owens Corning Oakridge asphalt shingles in Driftwood. Our crews painted parts of the exterior in the homeowners’ color choice of Behr Potting Moss.
