Full Exterior Restoration to This Rochester Home
Challenge:
When you hear the words “April showers..” it’s normally followed by “brings May flowers”. Well unfortunately for these homeowners, the April showers brought May hailstorms instead. After the storms passed, they contacted their insurance agent, and their agent recommended they give us a call.
Solution:
When we came out to the home for the free consultation, we not only found damage to the roof, but also damage to their siding, skylights, and gutters. The homeowners filed a claim with their insurance, and we were able to work with their adjuster to make certain that all of the homeowners’ needs were covered. Before we began the replacement, we made sure to cover the surrounding landscape with tarps and plywood, because we understand the importance of a homeowner’s entire property being protected. We removed the damaged shingles and proceeded to lay down new roofing felt as well as Ice & Water Barrier, which provides additional protection to the home from future storms. As a 3-star installer of Velux Skylights, we then expertly replaced the damaged skylights ensured that the area had the correct flashing. We then laid down the new shingles for which the homeowner opted for Certainteed Landmark AR shingles in “Max Def Georgetown Gray”.
Our next step in the restoration was the siding. After removing the old siding, we wrapped the home with Dupont Tyvek Housewrap, which prevents water and cold/hot air from penetrating, but allows water vapor to escape in order to help balance the energy efficiency of the home. We then installed Norandex Cedar Knolls Clapboard Vinyl Siding in “Deep Water” (which was a great pop of color!) to finish up the project. The homeowners were elated at their restored exterior and grateful for the extra protection against future storms.
