Eden Prairie Home Gets Premium Siding and Shingles

Challenge:

This Eden Prairie home owner noticed hail damage to his roof and siding decided it was time to upgrade to a premium siding and duration shingles.

Solution:

To help these homeowners protect against future storms, we started with a free roof consultation. After tearing off the damaged shingles and finding that the decking for the roof was within code, we installed an Ice & Water barrier as an additional layer of protection against the driving rain. Over this barrier, we installed Owens Corning Duration Shingles in Slatestone Gray, which show an increase in durability over other classes of shingles. Along with the premium shingle, the owner added another layer of hail resistance with a premium siding. After removing the current siding, we installed Dupont Tyvek Housewrap, which prevents water and cold/hot air from penetrating, but allows water vapor to escape in order to help balance the energy efficiency of the home. Finally, we installed James Hardie HZ5 HardiePlank Cedarmill Lap Siding in Iron Gray. HZ5 siding is winter ready, able to resist shrinking, swelling and cracking even after years of wet and freezing conditions. These homeowners can be sure that their house will stand the test of time and stand out on the block!
