Meet the Team of Trinity Exteriors

New siding by LP SmartSide Trim & Siding
A restoration project can create a lot of stress and headaches for some homeowners, but there are definitely ways to make your project go more smoothly. While most roof restorations only take a day, two at the most, siding restoration is a little more involved and can take a week or two, which can really be a disruption.
- Plan for the weather — You won't find many Minnesotans putting a roof or siding on in the middle of winter, but it's important to keep in mind that spring gets rainy and may cause significant delays to your project. Summer is probably the best time to do exterior remodeling, but many homeowners are busy with vacations and other activities. Taking on a project at this point may be too much to handle.
- Be flexible but clear on the timeline — Communicate with your contractor about upcoming events that may clash with your project (birthday parties, out-of-town trips) and find out what might possibly hold up work on their end. Your contractor will work around your schedule as best they can.
- Plan for delays — Rarely does a restoration project finish early. Several things can cause delays: the weather, how long your custom prefinished siding may take to produce, and the always inconvenient Acts of God. By acknowledging this possibility, you can mentally steel yourself against the disappointment of having your project delayed.
- Find an oasis — All that hammering is bound to drive a person nuts. Once things get underway and as long as you're reachable by phone for the contractor, grab the kids and get out of the house to avoid noises or being trapped inside to avoid falling debris.
- Plan on material storage — Will your materials be dropped off the morning of or some time earlier? Where is the most convenient place: on the driveway or out of the way on the lawn? These things need to be discussed with your project manager.
- Be responsive to your contractor — It may seem like you're constantly getting questions asked of you, or you are always on your phone, but your contractor needs these important details in order to complete your job to your satisfaction. Pick up your cell phone every time they call so communication can be clear and consistent.
- Be patient — Remodeling is a constant source of little irritations, the more patient you are, the easier the whole process will seem, and it will be no time before you're enjoying the new beauty of your house.
