With a strong economy and spring being an incredibly popular time for roofing, windows or siding projects, you may want to start checking out design trends, researching product choices and figuring out what you like Then, when it comes to hiring, do your due diligence!

Get it Right the First Time.

According to one of our partners over at LP BuildSmart, when you’re looking to get the job done right the first time, make sure to discuss these crucial points when hiring, to avoid any misunderstanding and to mitigate challenges during the exterior renovation.

• Licensed, Bonded, and Insured – Ask your remodeler if their license requirements are up to date.
• Reputation – Research your remodeler’s history with friends and online consumer referral sites such as: your local Better Business Bureau (BBB), social media reviews, Angie’s List and Yelp to name a few.
• Itemized Proposal – Ask for a detailed proposal outlining the entire cost of materials and labor to complete your project.
• Get a Contract – Make sure your remodeler provides a thorough contract outlining the scope of work, timelines, charges, cancellation policies and warranties.
• Communication – Ask if there will be a supervisor or manager on the site and if you will have a consistent point of contact if any issues arise.
• Craftsmanship – Take note if a remodeler recognizes the unique details of your home and how they may affect your individual project.
• Local Experience – Ask if your remodeler has completed jobs similar to yours and ask for customer references.
