Trinity Exteriors and Partners Donate Roof to Veterans Rest Camp

Through the company’s commitment to continually giving back to the Twin Cities community, Eden Prairie roofer Trinity Exteriors, Inc donated a roof to veterans rest camp in Marine on St. Croix, MN.

The camp was originally founded after World War I as a place for returning soldiers to recover from shell shock. Today, the camp provides recreational activities for honorably discharged veterans and their families.

“Ken called me up and said they were finishing a new cabin for the camp and it needed a roof. So I put together an estimate and sent it over. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the room in their budget at the time,” says Ted Swanson, owner of Trinity Exteriors.

Feeling an obligation to do what was right, Swanson called up Trinity’s partners to see if there might be some way to help. Trinity Exteriors would donate the labor for the project, if materials could be covered. In less than 24 hours, manufacturer Owens Corning offered to donate the shingles for the project, and distributor Roof Depot donated all the other materials needed for the roof.

“It was really nice to call Ken on Veterans Day to let him know we were going to be able to put the roof on at no cost,” Swanson says.

“That was a godsend to hear,” says Ken Larson, veterans camp manager.

“For us, it’s an opportunity to give back. Everyone at the camp was so nice and appreciative of the work we did earlier in the summer, I’m just glad for the opportunity to help them out in this small way,” Swanson says. “It’s one more way we strive to Take The Worries Away from our customers’ roofing projects.”
